Almost everyone I speak to thinks that yoga is only for flexible bendy people that can touch their toes! In fact, the postures are only a very small part of what yoga is.  It’s a way of life that I try every single day to live by and pretty much always fail but the difference is that as a yogi I am learning not to judge or torment myself and instead use it as a tool to develop & enhance my self-awareness.

Through teaching over the last couple of years to my little class in St Clement's I have managed to assimilate all my experience and my own personal understanding of yoga into a yin/yang style yoga that works with visualisation, body scanning, pranayama (breath work) and meditation to help sharpen the mind while also helping the body open up. I use a lot of hands on massage and adjustments in my classes and aim to make my students feel relaxed and special.  It’s not about how flexible you are but rather a way to help you still the mind and connect your mind with your body. Think of the postures as the gateway to discovering more about your true self!

From the moment I was introduced to Ashtanga Yoga over 15 years ago I was hooked. In 2015 I finally fulfilled a dream and completed a Yoga Alliance registered 300-hour Level I Ashtanga and Yin Yoga Teacher Training course with Melanie Cooper and Norman Blair. During the course I realised that the passive, slow and deep qualities of Yin Yoga complimented the dynamic energetic flow of Ashtanga yoga and I now incorporate both qualities into my own practice and my classes.
