Qi Gong

Qi Gong, which translates to "life energy cultivation," encompasses a rich tapestry of movements, breath-work, and meditation techniques designed to harmonise the flow of Qi (or life force energy) within the body. Qi Gong exercises involve mindful movements, breathwork, and visualization techniques that stimulate the circulation of Qi throughout the body. By coordinating movement with we facilitate the smooth flow of Qi along the meridian pathways, promoting vitality and well-being.

Breath-Work (Pranayama)

Pranayama, developed by ancient yogis, encompasses breathing exercises aimed at purifying the mind, rejuvenating mental focus, and promoting healing. Derived from "prana," meaning life force energy, and "yama," signifying control or mastery, pranayama involves techniques to regulate and enhance the quantity, quality, flow, and direction of vital energy within the body. It is often simplified as "breath control" and serves as a fundamental aspect of traditional yoga.

The quickest way to boost prana levels is by adjusting our breathing patterns, which directly influences the air intake into the lungs. Additionally, prana absorption occurs through the nostrils, connected to the body's energy channels known as nadis. Pranayama practices are employed to manipulate and refine prana within the body, impacting its energetic, mental, and physical aspects. Advanced techniques aim to purify nadis, unblock the sushumna nadi, and facilitate the free flow of Kundalini prana through the seven chakras.

Prana's influence extends to mental and emotional well-being. Blocked or restricted prana flow may lead to lack of focus and negative emotions such as anxiety, fear, tension, and depression. Conversely, when prana flows freely, the mind becomes tranquil, positive, and enthusiastic. Thus, conscious control of breathing enables regulation of emotional states and fosters a balanced mental outlook

Mantra

A mantra is a sacred utterance, word, or sound that holds transformative power and spiritual significance. Rooted in ancient traditions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, and Sikhism, mantras are revered for their ability to evoke specific energies, states of consciousness, and divine qualities.

The word "mantra" is derived from Sanskrit, with "man" meaning "mind" and "tra" meaning "instrument" or "tool." A mantra can be understood as a tool for the mind—a vehicle for focusing attention, cultivating intention, and accessing deeper levels of awareness.

The purpose of chanting is to bring about silence in the ever-chattering mind. When we repeat a set of words we are able to create a temporary form of mindfulness as the brain becomes absorbed in the activity.

In this session you will be initiated into a sacred mantra that invokes the goddess, heals and protects you and helps to calm the body and mind.

Sound Healing

During this sound healing experience you will experience the most wonderful pure harmonic tones imaginable. The tones of the crystal singing bowls, made of the purest crystal quartz, induce altered states of consciousness as they move through every cell of the body. When immersed in these vibrations our awareness expands and we enter a deep meditative state where blocked emotions are released in a profound and positive way.

Our bones, DNA and blood all have a crystalline structure. The human body therefore has a natural affinity to quartz, so the pure tones resonate greatly with the physical and subtle bodies, facilitating profound healing. The quartz crystal contains the full spectrum of light related to the seven chakras and their associated musical notes. As the bowls hold the vibration of white light, they act as powerful transmitters and have become known as the 'purest tone' in the world.

Sound Healing & The Chakras

Crystal singing bowls create a range of sounds to restore the normal vibrations and frequencies of out-of-harmony and dis-eased parts of the mind, body and soul. The notes of the crystal singing bowls correspond with each of the major chakras; the energy centres of the body. Each energy centre has unique aspects and corresponds with specific tones of the musical scale. Keeping these centres in balance is what will result in health + harmony.

Chakras can be imbalanced by becoming blocked and under-active, or intense and over-active. When this happens our being as a whole is out of balance, creating an unhealthy environment which often leads to emotional blocks and ultimately physical illness. Alignment and resonance with the tones of the crystal bowls is one of the most purest forms of sound healing + chakra balancing.

Carla Yoga

  • I am an experienced yoga and meditation instructor with a deep passion for helping people integrate their mind, body and spirit and lead them to discovering their inner guru. My journey includes training in Ashtanga, Yin Yoga and Vipassana Meditation as well as being an accredited Yoga Nidra Facilitator in the Integrative Method of Yoga Nidra from the Amrit School of Yoga - descendant of one of the most esoteric yogic traditions of India, the path of Shaktipat Kundalini.

  • After years of neglecting my health both physically and mentally by living life on the edge, I discovered Transcendental Meditation. My practice over the last six years has led me to develop a passion for healing using vibrational instruments, including crystal bowls, and from within using our own breath.

    I recently qualified as a Life Awareness Breathwork instructor to guide others in using simple breathing techniques to help relax, heal, focus, improve general health, reduce stress and anxiety.

    I’m passionate that by taking something that we all already possess but typically do not use correctly - the breath - profound changes can be achieved. After all breathing is for everyone !

  • The session will consist of some gentle qi gong movements, breathing, exercises and chanting which will take approximately 1 hour.

    We will then stop for a little break with a refreshing cup of herbal chai tea and vegan treat. I make little balls of dates, coconut, almonds and peanut butter covered in dark chocolate. If you have a nut allergy please do let me know in advance. This will take 20 minutes or so.

    We will then conclude with a healing yoga nidra where you will lie down and be transported into the super conscious state - a place where deep healing occurs. Your body temperature will drop here so please please bring extra blankets with you.

  • The session is located at Frances Le Sueur Centre, St Ouen, Jersey.

  • The session will start at 11am. Try and arrive at least 20-15 minutes early so you are not rushing and can appreciate the beauty of the surroundings and get comfortable.
